CUT FRUITS AND VEGETABLES CHILLING AND PACKING IN TRAYS
The market for fresh cut fruits and vegetables introduced only recently in Indian Supper markets has seen tremendous growth across the globe. This high value added product has substantial potential for future growth in India thanks to the fast growing number of nuclear families, increasing purchasing power and the rise of super market culture.
The key steps or operation in preparation of fresh cut fruits/vegetables involve cutting of fresh fruits/vegetables into standard sizes , treatment as per product requirement, cooling and packing in breathable pouches of different Oxygen Transmission rates OTR. The breathable films are sourced from Bemis USA or Coropack of Italy. A 1000kg/hr line would cost approximately Rs 12.5 million with power requirement of 40KW, a built up area of 250m2.
